Artist Statement

I can’t be tied down to one medium I draw, sculpt and design. Through Sculpture and inventing, I’m very much fascinated in creating a spectacle which is emotive, fun, sensual and sassy. My intention of the work is to engage the viewer on a personal and emotional level, combining autobiographical elements with scientific concepts and often movement. My contraptions are inspired by Hollywood theatricality and industrial design to name a few. Repetitive movement is also a key theme within my work. Materiality is something I love to play with, mixing the context of materials with their history for example Latex and the sex industry, steel and the industrial revolution. This adds another dimension for the viewer’s interaction with my work as they come with a predefined view of the materials. Alexander McQueen’s runway shows are one of my biggest inspirations especially the show No.13, 1999, which has inspired me to become an artist whose works form an event.
